Who we are

First Home HQ is a licensed New Zealand real estate agency operating under The Network, licensed under the Real Estate Agents Act 2008. Legal entity and licence details: [AGENCY LEGAL NAME, REAA 2008 licence number]. We are the agency responsible for the personal information described here.

What we collect

Account details: your name, email address, phone number, and the region and suburbs you're interested in.

First Home Passport details, which you choose to enter: your buyer type, timeframe, household income band, deposit saved and target, KiwiSaver balance and years of membership, whether you have owned a home before, your finance status, pre-approval amount and expiry date, your budget range and property preferences.

Activity: checklist items you tick, modules you read, calculations you save, listings you save or view, open homes you log, and resources you download.

Documents you choose to upload to your Passport, such as a pre-approval letter or KiwiSaver statement.

Technical information: your IP address, browser, and pages visited, used to keep the site working and to understand which content helps.

Why we collect it

To give you the First Home Passport: your readiness score, your checklist, your saved calculations and the listings that match your brief.

To have an agent help you properly when you ask for help, without you repeating your situation from scratch.

To send you the emails you've asked for, including your next step, listing matches and pre-approval expiry reminders.

To improve the site and our content.

Financial details you enter are sensitive personal information. Providing them is optional — the Passport works without them, your readiness score is simply less accurate.

Who we share it with

Our agents and staff, so they can help you.

A partner mortgage adviser, solicitor, building inspector or insurance adviser — only when you ask us to make an introduction, and only the details needed for it.

Service providers who run our infrastructure, database, email delivery and analytics, under contract and only to provide those services.

Where we are required to by law.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not pass your details to lenders or advisers without you asking us to.

Marketing consent

Marketing emails are opt-in. The consent box is never ticked by default. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link, as required by the Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act 2007. Unsubscribing does not close your Passport.

Storage and security

Your information is stored in our database with access controls that limit each account to its own rows. Access by our staff is limited to those who need it. Documents you upload are stored in private storage, not on a public URL.

Your rights

Under the Privacy Act 2020 you can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it. Both are available in your Passport under Profile, as a data export and an edit form.

You can delete your Passport and everything in it at any time from your Profile. We remove your account data; we may retain records we are legally required to keep, such as records relating to a property transaction.

To make a request or raise a concern, email privacy@myfirsthome.co.nz. If you're not satisfied with our response you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.

Cookies and analytics

We use a small number of cookies to keep you signed in and to measure which pages and tools people use. We do not use advertising cookies that track you across other websites.

Not financial advice

Information, calculators and content on this site are general information about buying a first home in New Zealand. They are not financial advice and do not take your particular circumstances into account. Talk to a mortgage adviser and a solicitor before making decisions.
