Everything on this site — modules, checklists, calculators and listing notes — is general information about buying a first home in New Zealand. It is not financial, legal, tax or building advice, and it does not take your circumstances into account.

Calculator results are indicative estimates based on the numbers you enter and the assumptions we publish alongside each tool. They are not an offer of finance and do not mean a lender will approve you. Talk to a mortgage adviser, a solicitor and a building inspector before you commit to anything.

The First Home Ready Check is our own assessment of a property against the 12 criteria published on this site, made by a person at a point in time. It is not a valuation, a building report, a LIM, a guarantee of finance or insurance, or a substitute for your own due diligence.

A score does not transfer risk to us. You still need your own builder's report, LIM and solicitor's review.

Listing details, including price indications, floor areas, rates and body corporate levies, come from the vendor, the council and our own records. We take care with them but do not warrant that they are complete or free of error. Verify anything you'll rely on.

Prices are in New Zealand dollars. Dates are DD/MM/YYYY.

The First Home Passport is free. Keep your login details to yourself, and give us accurate information — a readiness score built on numbers that aren't real isn't useful to you.

You can delete your account at any time from your Profile. We may suspend an account that is being used to misuse the site or other people's information.

Content on this site, including our checklists, modules and the First Home Ready Check criteria, belongs to us. You're welcome to download and use our resources for your own home buying. Don't republish or resell them.

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for loss arising from your use of general information or calculator results on this site. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986 where those Acts apply.
